Thane: The Maharashtra chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has issued a statewide advisory urging all medical professionals to stay on high alert and be ready to provide emergency care in light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Call for Medical Vigilance

“In moments of national crisis, the strength of our healthcare system lies not in infrastructure alone, but in the readiness and spirit of its doctors,” said Dr. Santosh Kadam, president of the IMA’s Maharashtra unit, in a public statement issued Thursday evening.

Seven-Point Preparedness Strategy Rolled Out

The IMA has outlined a detailed seven-point strategy to ensure a swift and coordinated medical response in case of large-scale emergencies. The advisory calls for proactive measures by healthcare facilities across the state.

Hospitals Asked to Stock Essentials

All member hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes have been directed to maintain adequate supplies of emergency medicines, dressing materials, and life-saving drugs to tackle any potential surge in critical cases.

Disaster Management Task Forces Recommended

Each IMA branch has been advised to form dedicated disaster management task forces. These units should include senior clinicians, surgeons, anaesthetists, emergency care providers, and trained volunteers to facilitate coordinated and efficient emergency care delivery.
