Pune: Indian Council of Medical Research ((ICMR) has invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from eligible organizations, companies, manufacturers for undertaking ‘Transfer of Technology’ for commercialization of “A colorimetric isothermal (LAMP) assay for rapid detection of Monkeypox virus” useful in Detection of Monkeypox. The new monkeypox test kit has been developed by National Institute of Virology, one of the constituent of ICMR. The test kit is likely to be priced between Rs.350 to Rs.400 which is 60% to 70% less costly than the existing test kits. According to ICMR once the technology is transferred the kit could be commercially available within a month time.

ICMR in its EOI has expressed its willingness to collaborate with eligible organizations, companies, and manufacturers for undertaking Transfer of technology or further Joint development and commercialization of “A colorimetric isothermal (LAMP) assay for rapid detection of Monkeypox virus”.The EOI further said that the Company would be granted rights to undertake further development, manufacture, sell, and commercialize the Technology/Product “A colorimetric isothermal (LAMP) assay for rapid detection of Monkeypox virus” or undertake further R&D and commercialize the end product(s) /technology.
