A shocking incident has been reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district where a government doctor was allegedly assaulted and threatened inside a Community Health Centre (CHC) after refusing to join a social media–linked group calling itself the “Cockroach Janta Party” (CJP). Police have registered an FIR and launched a search operation to arrest the accused.
The incident took place on Thursday at the CHC located at Majhwara Mod in the Ghosi Kotwali area. According to officials, a man visited the health centre for an ECG test and later allegedly tried to persuade the doctor to join the so-called political group.
The complainant, a government physician posted at the CHC, stated that the accused entered his chamber around 10 am while he was treating patients. After the medical examination, the man reportedly introduced himself as an office-bearer of CJP and urged the doctor to become a member.
The doctor refused, citing rules that prohibit government employees from participating in political activities. This reportedly led to an argument that escalated quickly. The doctor alleged that the accused slapped him, vandalised furniture and medical equipment inside the chamber, and issued death threats before fleeing the scene.
In his complaint, the doctor said the accused entered under the pretext of seeking treatment and then began discussing the group’s agenda, even claiming they aimed to “overthrow the government.”
Police officials confirmed that the accused is a resident of the Ghosi area and had visited the centre due to breathing difficulties before the incident escalated. Additional Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar stated that the situation turned into a dispute after political discussion began during treatment.
An FIR has been registered, and police teams are actively searching for the accused. Authorities have assured strict action and said the accused will be arrested and produced before the court once located.
The incident has sparked outrage among doctors and hospital staff, who have demanded strong legal action and better security at healthcare facilities.
