Lucknow: In a significant development, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has detained five more doctors from Kashmir for questioning over their alleged links to a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module recently busted in Faridabad. The doctors were working at private hospitals in Saharanpur, Deoband, and Shamli districts. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.

According to ATS officials, the detained doctors were in regular contact with a Kashmiri doctor arrested earlier in the case. Parallel ATS teams are also conducting searches in Uttarakhand to track down an associate of the arrested female doctor linked to the plot.

During the probe, investigators uncovered that the elder brother of the male accused doctor — a psychiatrist based in Dubai — had allegedly been running the JeM module for the last five years, arranging funds, foreign travel, and logistics. He reportedly served as a mediator between a Turkish handler and operatives in India. The Jammu & Kashmir Police has now issued a Red Corner Notice against him.

Further investigation revealed that a Lucknow-based doctor, the brother of the arrested female doctor, was also part of the module. He allegedly chose night shifts at a private university hospital to carry out activities linked to the conspiracy.

Prof. Haris Ahmad Siddiqui, registrar of the Lucknow-based private university where he worked, told TOI“He had joined the institution in July 2021 as a senior resident doctor and worked mostly night duties during his first year.”

A senior source involved in the operation stated, “We are conducting the operation based on the interrogation of Dr *** and evidence obtained from the forensic audit of gadgets recovered from him.”

The ATS continues coordinated searches across states as the investigation widens into what officials describe as a terror-linked network of medical professionals active for the past three years.
