Pune, 8 June — Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday announced a significant push towards strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure in the state, asserting that the government will invest heavily in improving medical services at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the inauguration of Pushpalata D Y Patil Hospital in Ambi-Tarangwadi, Maval taluka, Pune district, Fadnavis said:
“The Maharashtra Government has decided to overhaul the primary health services. A robust network will ensure better access to treatment for every citizen.”
He was joined by MP Shrirang Barne, MLA Sunil Shelke, and D Y Patil University chancellors Vijay Patil (Navi Mumbai) and Sanjay Patil (Kolhapur), along with vice-chancellor Shivani Patil.
Key Highlights:
- Under Mahatma Phule Janarogya Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Janarogya Yojana, the poorest citizens get free treatment up to ₹5 lakh.
- Fadnavis reiterated the government’s intent to strengthen secondary healthcare alongside primary services.
- So far, 10 new government medical colleges have been established in Maharashtra, with a plan to expand to every district.
Visit to John Deere ISG Facility
Before the hospital inauguration, Fadnavis also visited the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) lab in Sanaswadi, where he reviewed the company’s latest innovations in smart agricultural technologies and automation.
