Couple critically injured after armed assailants storm residence in Morikolong, sparking safety concerns among residents
A shocking incident of violent robbery has emerged from the Morikolong area of Nagaon, where a doctor and his wife were seriously injured after being assaulted by a group of unidentified attackers. The incident has triggered a police investigation and raised serious concerns about law and order in the locality.
Late-Night Attack Leaves Couple Critically Injured
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 3:00 AM on April 23, when six to seven assailants allegedly broke into the doctor’s residence. The attackers reportedly looted valuables before assaulting the couple with iron rods, leaving both victims severely injured.
Disturbing Scene Recounted by Neighbour
A neighbour, speaking about the aftermath, described a horrifying situation. The injured doctor reportedly ran to nearby houses seeking help, stating that his wife was critically hurt.
“When we reached the house, there was blood everywhere, and the room was completely ransacked. She was barely breathing,” the neighbour said, highlighting the brutality of the attack.
Victims Shifted to GMCH for Treatment
The injured couple was rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for advanced medical care. According to reports, both remain in serious condition.
Residents Alarmed Over Rising Crime
The incident has created panic among local residents, who have raised concerns about safety in the area. Many pointed out that the house is located near a main road, making the attack even more alarming.
Some residents also claimed that this was the second burglary at the same residence within a month, intensifying fears over recurring criminal activity.
Police and Forensic Teams Begin Investigation
Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das visited the crime scene to review the situation. Teams from Nagaon Police, along with forensic experts, have begun collecting evidence and are working to identify the accused.
Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to track down the attackers, with further updates expected as the investigation progresses.
