Rising Crime Triggers Fear Among Residents in Punjab Town
In a shocking incident in Goraya, a doctor was allegedly attacked and robbed by armed assailants, raising serious concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in the region. The incident has sparked fear among residents, many of whom claim that crime has been increasing in recent times.
Doctor Assaulted While Returning Home
According to reports, the victim, who runs a clinic in Mukhtiar Kalan and resides in Kamalpur village, was on his way home when he was intercepted by two motorcycle-borne assailants.
The attackers allegedly stopped him mid-way and assaulted him using sharp-edged weapons, leaving him injured. The sudden and violent nature of the attack has added to concerns over public safety in the area.
Cash, Mobile Phone and Valuables Looted
After assaulting the doctor, the accused reportedly fled with his belongings, including:
- A mobile phone
- Cash worth approximately ₹5,000–₹6,000
- Other valuables
The injured doctor later approached the local police station along with members of a doctors’ union to file a complaint.
Police Launch Investigation
Officials at the local police station confirmed that a complaint has been registered and an investigation is currently underway. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the accused.
Police sources stated that efforts are being made to track the suspects using available leads and surveillance inputs.
Pattern of Attacks Raises Alarm
The incident has once again highlighted growing safety concerns for medical professionals. In a similar case reported earlier in Ludhiana, a woman doctor was allegedly robbed at knifepoint by two unidentified youths.
The incident took place near the Bhamian Road area when the doctor was learning to drive her SUV. The assailants intercepted her vehicle and fled with it after threatening her.
