Kolhapur: A Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) doctor and her two assistants have been arrested for their alleged involvement in an illegal sex determination and abortion racket.

Hospital Operated Without Proper Authorization

The accused, Dipali Taingade, a BAMS graduate, was operating a hospital in Kalamba, despite only having permission to provide OPD services. According to health officials, she illegally converted her clinic into a hospital and stocked a large quantity of medicines without proper authorization.

Complaints Lead to Crackdown

District Collector Amol Yedge received multiple complaints alleging that Taingade was running an illegal abortion racket. Acting on the reports, authorities launched an investigation, leading to her arrest along with two of her assistants.

Further inquiries are underway to determine the full extent of the operation.
