Baghpat: A 30-year-old doctor from Delhi’s Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP) was found dead near a power house in Baraut city, Uttar Pradesh, late Friday night. The recovery of a syringe, needle and cannula from the spot has raised suspicions, police said on Saturday.
The Deceased
The deceased, identified as Dr. Parvez, was a resident of Baraut and had been preparing to pursue a specialisation in cardiology at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow.
Circumstances of Death
According to police, Parvez’s body was found lying near the power house. He had travelled from Delhi in a hired taxi and called his family around 9:30 pm to inform them he was nearing home.
His uncle, Ali, told TOI:
“We don’t know what happened. His eyeglasses were intact, and his money — ₹5,000 — was still in his wallet. This is not a normal death, and murder cannot be ruled out. We want a thorough investigation.”
Police Investigation
Baghpat Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai confirmed that no external injury marks were visible on the body. The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
While the family initially refused the autopsy, suspecting murder, they later consented after police assured swift action, reports PTI.
Background
