Administration pushes for timely healthcare rollout, improved staffing, and stricter financial discipline across departments

The Chandigarh Administration has decided to expedite the launch of an AYUSH hospital in Sector 34 as part of a broader push to enhance healthcare infrastructure and administrative efficiency. The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Rajesh Prasad.


AYUSH Hospital in Sector 34 to Be Operational Soon

A key outcome of the meeting was the directive to make the AYUSH hospital functional at the earliest. The move is expected to significantly improve access to traditional healthcare systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy for residents of Chandigarh.


Senior Officials Review Development and Governance

The meeting was attended by top officials including Home Secretary Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav, Finance Secretary Diprava Lakra, Engineering Secretary Prerna Puri, and CEO of Chandigarh Housing Board, D. Karthikeyan.

Discussions centered around improving execution timelines of government projects, strengthening staffing, and ensuring efficient financial management.


Push for Faster Recruitment and Filling Vacancies

The administration stressed the urgent need to fill vacant posts across departments. Officials have been directed to speed up recruitment through Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) and direct hiring processes to address workforce shortages.


Strict Timelines for Tendering and Fund Utilisation

Engineering departments have been instructed to adhere strictly to timelines for tendering processes to avoid delays. Authorities emphasized transparent and efficient use of allocated funds within the financial year to prevent lapses and ensure fiscal discipline.


Plan to Utilise Vacant Government Housing

The issue of numerous vacant government houses in the city was also discussed. The engineering department has been tasked with preparing a detailed inventory and developing plans for renovation, maintenance, and optimal utilisation of these properties.


Stronger Monitoring of Boards and Corporations

The administration has decided to tighten oversight of accounts and operations of various boards, corporations, and societies. Officials have been directed to conduct regular board meetings and submit annual reports within stipulated timelines.


Boost to Healthcare and Governance Efficiency

The fast-tracking of the AYUSH hospital, along with administrative reforms, reflects Chandigarh’s broader strategy to improve public service delivery, strengthen healthcare access, and ensure better governance across departments.
