Mobile Medical Facility for Railway Staff
The Bhusawal division of Central Railways has converted an AC 3-tier coach into a mobile clinic-cum-hospital, ‘Rudra’, to provide healthcare support to railway employees across nine districts in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Launched a month ago, the initiative has already benefited over 1,200 patients.
Healthcare at the Doorstep
‘Rudra’ offers diagnostics, consultations, and minor procedures on the move, reaching remote areas to ensure employees don’t neglect healthcare due to accessibility issues. Bhusawal Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ity Pandey emphasized that the goal is to eliminate healthcare barriers and make medical services available even in the division’s farthest locations.
Specialist Consultations and Telemedicine
The refurbished coaches are equipped with advanced medical facilities and a team of specialists, including physicians, surgeons, gynaecologists, paediatricians, orthopaedic specialists, and dental surgeons. A telemedicine facility has also been integrated for remote diagnosis and consultations.
Impact Across Remote Locations
Since its launch, ‘Rudra’ has provided medical aid to 1,266 railway employees, including 259 in Chalisgaon, 291 in Murtizapur, 302 in Burhanpur (MP), 247 in Nandgaon, and 167 in Akola. The initiative aims to expand further, ensuring comprehensive healthcare for railway staff in isolated areas.
