$5 Million-Backed Healthcare Centre Aims to Bridge Gaps in Women’s Medical Care Across All Life Stages
A new women-focused multispecialty healthcare facility, The Women’s Hospital (TWH), was inaugurated on Wednesday in Nehru Enclave, South Delhi, with the aim of addressing long-standing gaps in women’s healthcare services in India.
Founded by entrepreneur Anika Parashar, the hospital has received an investment of $5 million from multiple investors. Spread across 30,000 square feet, the facility is designed to provide integrated and specialised healthcare services exclusively for women, covering adolescence, reproductive health, fertility, pregnancy, menopause, ageing, and cancer care.
According to hospital data, nearly 355 million women in India menstruate, while around 23 million girls reportedly drop out of school due to poor menstrual hygiene. The data also highlights that nearly 60,000 women die every year from cervical cancer in India. In addition, approximately 25% of Indian women suffer from PCOD/PCOS, and one in six couples experiences infertility issues.
Speaking about the initiative, Anika Parashar said the hospital was conceptualised after witnessing years of fragmented healthcare experiences faced by women.
“TWH comes from a gap I have seen in over 25 years of working closely with women, families, doctors and healthcare teams. Women are often left to navigate fragmented systems, delay care, or feel unheard. We wanted to create a healthcare home where women can access specialised, preventive and holistic care without judgement,” she said.
Specialised Clinics for Every Stage of Women’s Health
The hospital includes dedicated clinics focused on adolescence, fertility treatment, pregnancy care, postpartum recovery, menopause management, chronic and metabolic disorders, cancer screening, and mental health support.
Apart from women patients, the hospital will reportedly treat other patients only during emergencies before referring them to other healthcare facilities.
Advanced Infrastructure and Technology
The facility is equipped with robot-assisted surgery systems, advanced fetal medicine infrastructure, and a Korean-designed operating suite aimed at enhancing surgical precision and patient care.
The centre houses 34 beds, including 12 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) beds, three modular operation theatres, and three delivery suites.
Rising Demand for Women-Centric Healthcare Infrastructure
The launch of The Women’s Hospital comes at a time when healthcare experts continue to stress the need for specialised infrastructure dedicated to women’s health in India. With growing concerns around reproductive disorders, cervical cancer, infertility, and mental health among women, dedicated institutions such as TWH are expected to play a crucial role in improving access to preventive and holistic healthcare services.
