Irregularities Found in Hospital Inspection

Bhopal: Two doctors have been served show-cause notices after serious irregularities were detected in an inspection report of NRI Nursing College and Arnav Hospital, which is alleged to have been fabricated. The action follows allegations that the inspection failed to reflect the actual condition of the hospital.

Doctors Accused of Negligence

The doctors involved include the District Immunisation Officer and another medical officer posted at UPHC Sai Baba Nagar. They have been accused of not physically verifying the hospital facilities during inspection and of including false or misleading information in the official report.

CMHO Orders Preliminary Probe

Taking cognisance of the matter, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Bhopal, Dr Manish Sharma, initiated a preliminary investigation. Show-cause notices were issued to both doctors, seeking their explanations regarding the alleged lapses and discrepancies mentioned in the inspection report.

NSUI Protests Outside CMHO Office

The issue sparked protests on Thursday, when National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) workers gheraoed the CMHO office, demanding strict action against those responsible. The protestors alleged that the inspection report was deliberately manipulated to mislead authorities.

Demand for Suspension and FIR

NSUI state vice president Ravi Parmar demanded the immediate suspension of the guilty officials and the registration of an FIR. He alleged that the fabrication of the report was not merely administrative negligence but a serious criminal offence.

Warning of Legal Action

District NSUI president Akshay Tomar warned that failure to take stringent action would promote corruption and fraud in the healthcare and nursing education systems. He added that such practices adversely affect patients and students, and said the organisation would approach the High Court if action is not taken against fake faculties and officials allegedly shielding them.

Further Action Awaited

Health authorities are yet to take a final call on disciplinary or legal action, pending replies from the doctors concerned. The matter is under close scrutiny as investigations continue.
