Bhopal: Widespread dissatisfaction is brewing among government and junior doctors in Madhya Pradesh due to the unexplained delay in the annual salary hike, typically implemented around March or April. Despite being two months overdue, no official communication has been made, prompting doctors to plan a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla to demand immediate action.
Speaking to the press, Dr. Kuldeep Gupta, state president of the Junior Doctors’ Association (JUDA), expressed frustration: “Every year, salary revisions are made around March. But this time, even after two months, there’s been no official communication.”
Adding to the discontent is the state government’s continued silence over the implementation of the Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme — a long-standing demand by allopathic doctors. The DACP ensures structured salary increments at 4, 9, 13, and 20 years of service, regardless of promotions.
“It’s a pathetic situation,” said Dr. Gupta. “We’re entitled to an annual salary hike, but this year there’s complete silence. We’re left in the dark.”
Doctors have alleged that repeated follow-ups with the Health Department have yielded no response. As a result, JUDA is preparing to raise both the salary hike and DACP delay issues directly with Deputy CM Shukla.
Key Concerns:
- No official announcement of annual salary increment despite being overdue since March–April.
- No progress on DACP implementation, despite past assurances.
- Health Department unresponsive to repeated communications.
The discontent highlights growing unrest in the medical community, particularly at a time when the state continues to rely heavily on its public healthcare workforce.
