
Incident Caught on Video, Police Register Case
Bengaluru: A doctor working at a well-known government hospital has been booked for allegedly assaulting her elderly in-laws at their residence in RHCS Layout, Annapoorneshwari Nagar.
Complaint Filed by 79-Year-Old Father-in-Law
According to a complaint filed by J Narasimhaiah (79), the incident occurred on the night of March 10 between 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm. The Annapoorneshwari Nagar police have registered a case based on his allegations.
Physical Assault and Mangalsutra Snatching
Dr. Priyadarshini N, married to dentist Naveen Kumar, reportedly entered her in-laws’ home with another woman and verbally abused them before escalating to physical assault. A video circulating on social media shows her shouting at the elderly couple, pulling her mother-in-law’s mangalsutra, while the accompanying woman is seen kicking Narasimhaiah. The footage also captures children crying in distress during the altercation.
Marital Dispute Behind the Attack
Dr. Priyadarshini and Naveen Kumar, who married in 2007 and have children, are currently undergoing a divorce. While Naveen resides with his parents, Dr. Priyadarshini stays separately with their children. The ongoing family dispute is believed to have triggered the confrontation.
Legal Action and Investigation Underway
Narasimhaiah, who suffers from heart-related ailments, attempted to intervene but was allegedly struck on the head and back. His wife, who is also battling a serious illness, was reportedly assaulted.
Following the complaint, Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Vikash Kumar Vikash confirmed that a case has been registered against Dr. Priyadarshini under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including causing hurt (BNS 115(2)), wrongful restraint (BNS 126(2)), criminal intimidation (BNS 351(2)), and intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace (BNS 352).
The police have summoned Dr. Priyadarshini for questioning, and further investigations are ongoing.
