AYUSH ministry

New Delhi: The Union Minister of State for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, announced the issuance of 123 regular Ayush Visas, 221 e-Ayush Visas, and 17 e-Ayush Attendant Visas as of December 4, 2024. This development comes in light of the government’s efforts to boost Medical Value Travel (MVT) under India’s traditional Ayush systems of medicine.

Introduction of Ayush Visa
The Ayush Visa category was launched on July 27, 2023, specifically for foreigners seeking treatment through India’s Ayush systems, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy. The visa is available in four subcategories:

  1. Ayush Visa (AY-1): For treatment seekers.
  2. Ayush Attendant Visa (AY-2): For attendants of patients.
  3. e-Ayush Visa: Online option for treatment seekers.
  4. e-Ayush Attendant Visa: Online option for attendants.

The visas are granted to individuals seeking care at accredited hospitals or wellness centers registered with government authorities, NABH, NCH, or NCISM.

Ayush Medical Value Travel Portal
India’s official Advantage Healthcare India Portal (www.healinindia.gov.in) serves as a “one-stop” platform for international patients. It provides comprehensive information on medical and wellness services available in India, ensuring ease of access for foreigners planning to seek treatment in the country.

Key Initiative: Ayush Medical Value Travel Summit 2024
The government organized the Ayush Medical Value Travel Summit 2024 in Mumbai on September 30, 2024, themed “Global Synergy in Ayush: Transforming Health and Wellness through Medical Value Travel.” This summit aimed to position India as a leader in medical value travel by integrating traditional Indian medicine with modern healthcare practices.

The initiative reflects India’s commitment to promoting wellness tourism and highlights the global appeal of its traditional medical systems.
