New Delhi: The Ministry of Ayush convened a high-level review meeting to evaluate the progress of the Ayurveda Training Accreditation Board (ATAB) and its initiatives to expand Ayurveda’s global footprint through course accreditation and professional endorsement. The meeting was chaired by Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ayush, with Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha in attendance.

ATAB’s Role in Global Ayurveda Education

During the meeting, Dr. Vandana Siroha presented ATAB’s achievements and future roadmap. She highlighted its mandate to accredit Ayurveda courses beyond the purview of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) Act, 2020, and its new endorsement scheme for overseas Ayurveda professionals.

Establishment and Reach of ATAB

Established under the Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV) through a Gazette Notification in December 2019, ATAB has so far accredited 113 courses—99 from 24 Indian institutions and 14 international courses from two countries. These accreditations have helped standardize Ayurveda training and boost its global credibility.

Endorsement Scheme for Global Practitioners

ATAB’s structured endorsement scheme provides formal recognition to qualified Ayurveda professionals abroad. To date, 41 overseas Ayurveda doctors have been endorsed, ensuring adherence to strict benchmarks of knowledge, skills, and ethics. The scheme strengthens professional legitimacy, supports global mobility, and promotes integration with mainstream healthcare.

Strengthening Global Wellness Leadership

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Ayurveda’s quality, credibility, and international outreach through ATAB. By creating trusted institutional frameworks, India aims to position Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine as vital pillars of global wellness and healthcare collaboration.
