Revamped Health App with AI-Powered Health Coach Could Launch with iOS 19

Apple is reportedly working on a major AI-driven upgrade to its Health app, aiming to introduce an “AI doctor” feature. According to a Bloomberg report, the project—codenamed Project Mulberry—will see the Health app transformed into a personalized health coach, leveraging AI to analyze user data and provide tailored recommendations.

How the AI Doctor Will Work

The revamped Health app will collect health data from Apple devices like iPhones, Apple Watches, AirPods, and even third-party products. Apple’s AI will then process this data to offer personalized health insights, mimicking the analysis performed by real doctors.

The Cupertino-based company is also training its AI using data from its in-house medical team and plans to involve external doctors to refine the system. Additionally, Apple is setting up a new facility near Oakland, California, where medical professionals will record video content for the app.

Release Timeline & Apple’s AI Strategy

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s AI-powered health coach could debut in iOS 19.4, expected to roll out with the iPhone 17 in September 2025. The feature is a priority for Sumbul Desai, Apple’s health team head, and COO Jeff Williams is actively involved.

While Apple has been investing heavily in AI, its progress has been slower compared to competitors like Google and Samsung. The company introduced Apple Intelligence with iOS 18 at WWDC 2024, but several key features faced delays and mixed reception.

As Apple gears up for WWDC 2025 (June 9-13), the AI-powered Health app is expected to be one of its biggest announcements.
