New Delhi: The Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) unveiled a comprehensive manual for hospital safety and stroke management during a launch event held on Wednesday. The manual aims to elevate patient safety standards across healthcare facilities in India, with a focus on consistent protocols for hospital security and effective stroke care.

Dr. Girdhar Gyani, Director General of AHPI, stressed the importance of rigorous safety and security measures to protect patients, healthcare personnel, and visitors. He emphasized that these structured guidelines would set a new benchmark for hospital security and clinical practices in the country. Dr. Gyani highlighted the manual’s role in empowering healthcare providers to handle emergencies efficiently and maintain high safety and quality standards.

A significant highlight of the event was the introduction of the “Hospital Safety and Security Manual,” developed under the leadership of Col (retd) Dr. Sunil Rao, Chair of AHPI’s Taskforce on Hospital Safety and Security. Dr. Rao, also the Group COO and Director of Medical Services at Sahyadri Hospitals Pvt Ltd, stated that the manual would serve as an essential resource for addressing security challenges and improving operational efficiency within healthcare facilities.

In addition to hospital security, the event also focused on stroke care with the introduction of “Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Stroke Management.” These SOPs were developed under the guidance of Dr. Sanjeev Singh, Medical Director at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, and Chair of AHPI’s Scientific Committee on Public Awareness of Stroke. Dr. Singh emphasized the need for greater public awareness of stroke management, noting that prompt and effective care can drastically reduce mortality and long-term disability from strokes.

Dr. Anoop K Singh, Chief Neurosurgeon at Life Line Hospital, Azamgarh, also contributed to the discussions, sharing insights on best practices for stroke management. He highlighted the importance of the “golden hour” in stroke treatment and the critical role structured SOPs play in guiding healthcare providers and the public toward timely and effective decision-making.
