The medical and academic community in Uttara Kannada is mourning the untimely demise of noted Ayurveda physician, researcher, and educator Dr. Raghavendra R. Bhat, who passed away on April 22 at the age of 46. His death has created a deep void among colleagues, students, and patients who knew him as a dedicated healer and mentor.


Respected Academic and Mentor in Ayurveda Education

Dr. Bhat served as a professor at an Ayurveda college in Siddapur, where he played a key role in shaping the careers of aspiring Ayurveda practitioners. Known for his profound understanding of Ayurveda, he combined classical knowledge with practical insights, earning admiration from students and peers alike.


Pioneer in Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturing

Apart from his academic contributions, Dr. Bhat was also an entrepreneur who helped promote traditional medicine. He co-founded an Ayurveda medicine manufacturing unit in Honnavar along with his associate Manjunath Bhat. Through this initiative, he contributed significantly to the production and accessibility of authentic herbal medicines rooted in Indian healing traditions.


Dedicated Healer with Patient-Centric Approach

Dr. Bhat also owned and managed a hospital in the region, where he treated hundreds of patients over the years. He was widely appreciated for his compassionate care and holistic treatment methods, focusing on long-term wellness through Ayurvedic therapies. Patients often regarded him as a trusted and dependable physician deeply committed to their well-being.


Family and Survivors

He is survived by his father R. M. Bhat, a former KDCC Bank official, and his mother Savitri Bhat, who served in the postal department. He also leaves behind his wife, who is a medical professional.
