Agra: In a major drive against unlicensed medical practitioners, police have registered cases against 11 alleged quacks in the district for treating patients without valid degrees or licences.
Over the past two months, raids conducted by the health department uncovered several illegally operated clinics and hospitals, where unqualified individuals were found performing critical medical procedures, including deliveries and abortions. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Arun Srivastava stated that notices were issued to several individuals, demanding proof of their qualifications as medical practitioners.
The police have filed FIRs against 11 individuals, and reports detailing the findings have been submitted to the district administration and the police commissioner.
“During inspections, we found many doctors absent from duty, while several hospitals had pending licence renewals,” Dr. Srivastava said. Notices were served to multiple facilities, seeking documents like doctors’ degrees, paramedical staff credentials, and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from relevant departments. However, many failed to provide the required documentation, prompting further action.
Preparations are underway to penalize and shut down facilities operating without compliance, sending a strong message against unlawful medical practices. The crackdown aims to safeguard public health and ensure accountability in healthcare services across the district.
