Palamu, Jharkhand: In a tragic road accident, a man lost his life after being run over by a car allegedly driven by a government medical officer in Jharkhand’s Palamu district. The incident occurred late Thursday night in Sikki village under the Patan Police Station area.
According to police officials, the accident took place when the doctor reportedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn. The car veered off the road, crashed into a house, and struck Vinod Singh, who was sleeping in the courtyard of his residence.
Patan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anil Kumar Vidyarthi said that Singh died on the spot due to the impact of the crash. The medical officer sustained critical injuries in the accident and was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
“The medical officer lost control of his vehicle, and it crashed into the house and struck Vinod Singh, who was sleeping in the courtyard,” Vidyarthi told reporters.
The deceased, Vinod Singh, earned a living as a tempo driver and was the primary breadwinner of his family. Police sent the body for post-mortem examination on Friday morning.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident and are awaiting the doctor’s statement to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
“We are investigating the incident and waiting to take the statement of the doctor,” the officer added.
Similar Tragedy Reported Earlier
The incident comes shortly after another fatal road accident involving a government doctor. In Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district, a government doctor was among four people killed when a speeding SUV allegedly rammed into the rear of a trailer truck on the Lucknow-Sultanpur Highway.
The victims were reportedly travelling to Kainchi Dham on a pilgrimage when the accident occurred near Bhikhra village under the Haidergarh police station area. Preliminary investigations suggested that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the deadly collision.
Police are continuing their investigation into the Palamu accident, and further details are awaited.
