Nine Personnel Suspended

Jaipur: A major fraud in the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) has led to the suspension of nine individuals, including two Ayurveda doctors, three allopathy doctors, and four government employees, for allegedly misusing a beneficiary’s health card to claim fake treatments worth around ₹26 lakh.

FIR Against Hospital, Pharmacy and Doctors

An FIR has been registered against Mittal Hospital, Rajasthan Pensioners Association Medical Store in Alwar, three doctors, and the scheme cardholder. The accused allegedly fabricated treatment records and prescriptions, using a single beneficiary card to generate fake OPD slips and siphon funds within a year.

How the Fraud Worked

Investigators found that instead of dispensing prescribed medicines, the pharmacy sold other items and inflated bills, enabling illegal claims for treatments that never occurred. Officials said the fraud was possible due to collusion between the beneficiary, doctors, and the pharmacy store.

Investigation and Action

The scam was unearthed after a probe into long-pending complaints of irregularities under RGHS. Principal Secretary Gayatri Rathore confirmed that the complaints were verified and “strict action has been initiated”.

Names of Suspended Personnel

According to Harji Lal Atal, CEO of Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency, those suspended include:

  • Dr Kavita Dhankhar and Dr Pawan Jangid (Ayurveda, DB General Hospital, Churu)
  • Dr Manisha (CHC Bibrani, Khairthal-Tijara)
  • Dr Narsilal Pachauri (District Hospital, Alwar)
  • Dr Kapil Bhardwaj (TBC, Alwar)
  • Compounders: Madan Mohan Pandey (Jaipur) and Chandrashekhar Jatav (Alwar)
  • Attendant: Mohsin Khan (Ayurveda office, Jaipur)
  • Assistant Administrative Officer: Mahesh Kumar Mahawar (Water Resources Dept.)

Past Scams Under RGHS

This is not the first such case. Earlier, a scam worth over ₹100 crore was reported under RGHS, where doctors allegedly misdiagnosed patients and prescribed costly medicines, directing them to specific stores for financial gain.
