Ludhiana | A 26-year-old doctor working at a private hospital in Khanna died in a tragic road accident while returning home after her night shift. The doctor, identified as Dr. Lavnish Chauhan, was hit by a speeding car while crossing the Ludhiana-Delhi national highway near Bhattian. The impact of the crash threw her into the air and caused fatal head injuries. She died on the spot.
An eyewitness said Dr. Chauhan was trying to cross the highway when the car struck her. The driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled.
Police have registered a case against the unknown driver for rash driving and causing death due to negligence. SHO Vinod Kumar of Khanna City Police said that the vehicle owner’s details have been traced and efforts are being made to identify the driver.
This incident follows a similar road accident reported earlier, where a 29-year-old physiotherapist died after his car skidded and overturned on a rain-soaked road in Nanthoor.
