Dehradun – Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday launched the ‘Doctor Aapke Dwar’ initiative, a free doorstep health service aimed at delivering medical care directly to residents, especially in remote regions. The service was flagged off from the CM’s residence in Dehradun.
The health initiative is part of the state government’s broader efforts to enhance rural healthcare access and ensure timely medical support to underserved communities.
A day earlier, CM Dhami inaugurated the renovated ice skating rink at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun, calling it a significant milestone not just for Uttarakhand but for the entire country. Originally built in 2011 for the South-Eastern Asian Winter Games, the rink had been non-operational for years due to neglect.
“We were determined to bring it back to life—even if it meant bringing engineers from abroad,” Dhami said. The 1 MW solar plant installed to power the facility is in line with the state’s green energy initiatives, he added.
Dhami noted that the rink, upgraded to international standards, may now be the largest in South Asia, and has already attracted attention from the Ice Skating Federation of India, which has proposed hosting national-level events there.
The twin launches mark significant strides in both healthcare access and sports infrastructure in Uttarakhand.
