Vacancies Announced Across Eight Districts

Lucknow: The Director General of Medical Education and Training (DGMET), Uttar Pradesh, has invited applications from eligible Indian nationals for the post of Principal in Autonomous State Medical Colleges. One position is available in each of the colleges located at Kanpur Dehat, Kushinagar, Bijnor, Sultanpur, Sonebhadra, Gonda, Amethi, and Bulandshahr.

Age Criteria for Applicants

As per the official notification, candidates must be at least 50 years old and not more than 62 years of age as on July 1, 2026. The post is aimed at senior medical professionals with substantial academic and administrative experience.

Eligibility as Per NMC Guidelines

The eligibility criteria are in line with the National Medical Commission (NMC) Gazette Notification dated June 30, 2025. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in a medical institution, including at least five years serving as a Professor.

Emphasis on Academic and Administrative Experience

The position of Principal requires not only academic excellence but also proven administrative capability. The notification highlights that the role is intended for individuals with eminent medical and leadership credentials to strengthen governance in state medical colleges.

Pay Scale and Benefits

Selected candidates will be appointed in Academic Level-14, with an entry pay of ₹1,44,200, along with applicable allowances. The remuneration and benefits will be governed by the norms applicable to Principals of Government Medical Colleges in Uttar Pradesh.

Application Fee Details

Applicants are required to pay an application fee of ₹1,000 through a bank demand draft drawn in favour of the Director General Medical Education and Training, U.P., Lucknow, payable at Lucknow. Those applying for more than one college must submit separate applications along with individual demand drafts for each institution.

Submission Process and Deadline

Interested candidates must apply in the prescribed format available on the official website. The completed application form, along with self-attested copies of required certificates and documents, must be submitted by 5:00 PM on March 6, 2026.

Mode of Application and Important Instructions

Applications must be sent only through registered or speed post to the Office of the Director General, Medical Education and Training, U.P., Jawahar Bhawan, 6th Floor, Lucknow–226001. Applications received after the deadline or found incomplete in any respect will be rejected.
