Two booked for fake Rs 33L Ayushman Bharat claim entries

Ahmedabad : The Infocity police booked a Surat-based doctor and an Ahmedabad resident for forgery after the duo allegedly made dubious entries to usurp Rs 33 lakh meant for the treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme by the Gujarat government.Gandhinagar resident Deepak Verma, Gujarat Head of Vidal Health Insurance TPA in his complaint said that his firm worked with Oriental Insurance from 2018 to 2021. Data of beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat scheme are usually uploaded online by the state government. Later Vidal Health downloaded the document and transferred it to Oriental Insurance which paid for the treatment.

When Vidal Health forwarded the data to Oriental Insurance it was tallied with the government data and the company found that there were additional 69 entries amounting to Rs 33 lakh. All these entries were made in the name of Samarpan General Hospital in Surat. When the firm confronted Krunal Bokde, the staff member who prepared the excel sheet and sent it to Oriental Insurance, he confessed to making additional entries on the insistence of Dr Rasik Virani of Samarpan General Hospital.
