Hyderabad : In a major crackdown, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) has unearthed a network of fake doctors operating illegal clinics and medical stores across Hyderabad. These unqualified individuals were found selling Schedule H drugs — including antibiotics and steroids — without proper licenses or prescriptions.
As per the TS Drug Control Administration (TSDCA) norms, only licensed pharmacists can dispense such drugs, and medical shops must be operated under valid approvals. However, TSMC inspections revealed that many of these outlets were attached to unauthorised “first-aid” or “primary care” centres, misleading the public by claiming to offer ‘limited allopathy’ services — a concept the council dismissed as quackery.
“There is no such thing as limited allopathy,” stated Dr. Gundagani Srinivas, Vice-Chairman, TSMC. “These illegal setups are a serious public health risk.”
In the past 48 hours, several cases have been filed against fake practitioners in Old Alwal and Malkajgiri areas. Offenders include:
- Ganesh (Gayatri First Aid Centre)
- M Venu Kumar (Bhuvan First Aid Centre)
- Saamantha (Gouravi Clinics)
- Santosh (Sri Sai Clinic)
- Giriprasad Shyam (Varasiddhi Vinayaka First Aid Centre)
- M D Saadiq (Shadan Clinic)
The council has initiated police complaints under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, which can attract up to one year imprisonment and a fine of ₹5 lakh.
