Thane: The Ulhasnagar police have registered a case against Dr. Ramdas Bhoir for allegedly continuing to practice medicine illegally, despite surrendering his certificate to the Maharashtra Council of Indian Medicine.

Accusations and Action

The accused, who operated a clinic in Ulhasnagar, reportedly continued to treat patients even after surrendering his medical license. During an inspection last month, the civic medical team discovered Dr. Bhoir’s illegal activities.

The police have booked him under sections 319(2) (cheating by personation) and 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, as well as relevant sections of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act. The doctor is currently absconding, and the authorities are actively searching for him.

Broader Implications

This case highlights the challenges of curbing unauthorized medical practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. In another incident, unethical practices by a doctor from AIIMS Bhopal also came under scrutiny, further emphasizing the need for stringent action against medical malpractice.

Efforts are underway to hold such offenders accountable and protect public health.
