Illegal Medical Practice Poses Public Health Risk

Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has intensified its efforts against unauthorized medical practitioners, filing cases against 15 fake doctors operating illegally in the state. Out of these, 10 cases were registered in Hyderabad and five in Gajwel.

Despite over 400 cases filed in the past, many unqualified Rural Medical Practitioners (RMPs) continue to operate, providing unauthorized treatments that jeopardize public health, TGMC officials said.

Recent Inspections & Legal Action

During inspections in Jeedimetla, Miyapur, and Gajwel, officials discovered unlicensed medical centers where individuals were illegally administering treatments. Cases were filed under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act and Telangana Medical Practitioners (TGMP) Act at Miyapur, Jeedimetla, Dundigal, Gajwel, and Gouraram police stations.

TGMC Vice Chairman Dr. G. Srinivas emphasized that only qualified MBBS doctors are permitted to practice allopathic medicine.

Public Health Concerns

The accused were found administering antibiotics, steroids, and painkillers without proper medical training, leading to serious health risks.

TGMC Public Relations Committee Chairman Dr. Naresh Kumar stated:
🗣️ “RMPs and PMPs have no legal right to present themselves as medical practitioners. Training or recognizing such individuals is not only illegal but a serious public health hazard.”

Ongoing Crackdown

Authorities have vowed to continue strict enforcement against illegal medical practitioners, urging the public to report fake doctors and unlicensed clinics to safeguard community health.
