Hyderabad, Telangana: The Telangana Medical Council has issued a show-cause notice to Rushcare Hospital in Hyderabad for allegedly colluding with unqualified individuals and promoting fake doctors. The hospital has been given a 10-day deadline to provide an explanation, failing which punitive actions will be taken under the NMC Act and TGMP Act.

The action stems from the hospital’s alleged involvement in sponsoring the 18th Annual Meeting of the Sushruta Rural Medical Association in Nalgonda on December 24, 2024, where the participation of unqualified practitioners was reportedly encouraged. The Telangana Medical Council took cognizance of an advertisement circulated via WhatsApp promoting the event and inviting the public to attend. The advertisement allegedly linked the hospital to the Sushritha Grameena Vaidyla Sangam, which was hosting the meeting on December 25, 2024 in Nalgonda.

In its communication dated January 3, 2025, the Council clarified that the hospital’s association with the event, where unqualified individuals were promoted, violated medical practice regulations. The hospital management was directed to submit a detailed explanation within 10 days, along with a copy of its hospital registration certificate from the District Medical and Health Officer. If the explanation is not received, the matter will be referred to the Ethics Committee for further action.

Dr. G Srinivas, Vice Chairman of the Telangana Medical Council, condemned the promotion of unqualified practitioners, such as Registered Medical Practitioners (RMP) and Privately Managed Practitioners (PMP), as unethical and illegal. He also highlighted that some hospitals hire agents to market unqualified individuals, a practice that the Council will take strict action against. Additionally, the Council has cautioned the public about the risks of consulting fake doctors, both in rural and urban areas.
