Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has registered cases against 15 unqualified medical practitioners as part of an intensified crackdown on quackery. The cases include 10 in Hyderabad and 5 in Gajwel, highlighting the persistence of illegal medical practice despite over 400 similar cases being registered in the past.
Key Findings and Actions Taken
Unauthorized Medical Practice: The accused individuals lacked valid medical degrees but were treating patients, posing serious public health risks.
Fake Registration Certificates: In a recent raid in Rangareddy, a fraudster was caught operating an infirmary with an illegal registration certificate, falsely claiming to be a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP).
Legal Charges: The accused were booked under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act and the Telangana Medical Practitioners (TGMP) Act at multiple police stations, including Miyapur, Jeedimetla, Dundigal, Gajwel, and Gouraram.
Strict Warning from Authorities
- TGMC Vice-Chairman Dr. G. Srinivas emphasized zero tolerance for fake doctors. He warned that RMPs without MBBS degrees were found prescribing harmful drugs, endangering public health.
- TGMC Public Relations Committee Chairman Dr. Naresh Kumar reinforced that only MBBS-qualified doctors can practice allopathic medicine, and training or recognizing unqualified practitioners is illegal and a serious health hazard.
The Telangana Medical Council has vowed to continue raids and legal action to eliminate fake doctors and protect public health.
