Illegal Medical Practices Exposed in Surprise Raids
Mancherial: In a major crackdown on illegal medical practitioners, the Telangana Medical Council (TSMC) and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) task force have booked two quacks operating in Mancherial district. The accused, Takini Srinivas and Chetupalli Satynanna, were found practicing medicine without valid qualifications in Jannaram Mandal.
The duo has been charged under the Telangana State Medical Practitioners Registration Act, 1968, and the National Medical Commission Act for illegally prescribing medicines, allegedly leading to fatalities.
Statewide Action Against Quack Doctors
This action comes as part of Telangana’s ongoing crackdown on quackery, which has already resulted in 12 FIRs against illegal practitioners in recent weeks. The TSMC and law enforcement agencies have been actively conducting raids across the state, targeting fake doctors operating in Hyderabad, Vanasthalipuram, Dundigal, Bachupally, Sangareddy, and Banswada.
Evidence and Legal Action
During the recent raids in Jannaram Mandal, authorities uncovered incriminating evidence, including medical prescriptions and patient records, confirming that the accused were treating patients despite lacking medical qualifications. The illegal practitioners have since been arrested and handed over to the Jannaram police for further investigation.
400 FIRs Filed in Telangana’s Fight Against Quackery
The Telangana Medical Council has intensified its efforts to eliminate fake and unqualified doctors, filing over 400 FIRs in the past year and issuing notices to 40 registered doctors suspected of aiding illegal medical practices.
These strict measures underscore the state’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring that only qualified professionals provide medical treatment.
