RAJKOT — In a highly concerning development highlighting the vulnerability of medical administrators, two separate cases of alleged harassment, intimidation, and severe disruption of public hospital operations have surfaced from the towns of Jamnagar and Gondal. Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) handling administrative duties at government healthcare centers have officially approached law enforcement, seeking protection after being subjected to persistent abuse and targeted digital harassment.

The first localized flashpoint transpired at the prominent Guru Gobind Singh (GG) Hospital located in Jamnagar. A senior resident medical officer, who has dedicated over 33 years of service to the state health sector, lodged a formal criminal complaint at the local B Division police station. According to the first information report (FIR), the administrative head faced aggressive confrontational tactics from an individual identified as Suresh Chauhan.

The incident escalated sharply inside the administrator’s official workspace during an ongoing high-level internal meeting focused on restructuring crucial patient welfare and healthcare delivery programs. The accused forcibly barged into the room multiple times, aggressively launched into heated arguments, hurled derogatory slurs, and made unsubstantiated defamatory allegations against the veteran professional. In a bid to intimidate the medical officer, the individual began filming the entire disruptive encounter on his mobile phone.

The complainant further stated that this behavior was not an isolated event; the individual had developed a pattern of bombarding him with threatening, late-night phone calls and repeatedly weaponizing the Right to Information (RTI) framework alongside the 104 Health Helpline to cause institutional distress. Fearing for his physical well-being and the collective safety of his colleagues, the physician formally requested immediate police protection. Law enforcement authorities registered the case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections dealing with criminal intimidation and obstruction of public service.

Simultaneously, a parallel case of systematic hostility emerged from the nearby sub-district town of Gondal in the Rajkot region. A 28-year-old RMO stationed at the Gondal Government Hospital approached the City A Division police station to log a comprehensive FIR against two individuals, identified as Arjun Chauhan and Nawaz Janwani.

The junior doctor, supported by statements from fellow resident physicians, detailed a year-long campaign of targeted harassment executed by the duo. The accused frequently made unauthorized entries into critical hospital zones under the guise of executing private “inspections”. During these incursions, they regularly abused, verbally degraded, and mocked frontline medical personnel. The situation grew dangerous as the individuals actively disrupted the daily operations of the emergency and general wards, issuing death threats to the medical staff while recording videos intended for social media defamation.

The Gondal City Police officially booked the two individuals under BNS Sections 221, 352, 351(3), and 54. Comprehensive investigation mechanisms have been activated across both jurisdictions, with police officials mapping hospital CCTV coverage and interviewing witness staff to curb this growing wave of external interference.
