A sexual assault case has been registered against a senior neurologist and former Superintendent of Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram after a woman living abroad lodged a complaint accusing him of assaulting her on the promise of marriage.
Complaint Filed by Woman Working Overseas
According to reports by Mathrubhumi, the complainant, a native of Thiruvananthapuram currently working overseas, alleged that the doctor sexually assaulted her at a hotel in 2023 after developing a personal relationship with her.
The woman claimed that she initially came into contact with the neurologist during a medical consultation. She further alleged that the doctor later befriended her and took her to various places, including the medical college campus and Kovalam, during the period when the alleged incident occurred.
Following the complaint, the Medical College Police registered a case and began questioning the doctor as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials confirmed that the doctor is currently on leave.
Doctor Denies Allegations, Claims Financial Dispute
The accused doctor has denied the allegations, claiming that the complaint was filed after a personal dispute between them. He alleged that the woman had threatened to file a case against him and claimed that she had taken lakhs of rupees from him on multiple occasions.
As reported by The New Indian Express, the neurologist has also filed a counter-complaint accusing the woman of honey-trapping him. He alleged that she pressured him to purchase a flat for her and blackmailed him into transferring a large amount of money.
Previous Controversy and Resignation
The report also stated that the doctor resigned as Superintendent of Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram in September 2025 amid allegations that surgeries at the hospital were being delayed due to a shortage of equipment.
Police officials said the investigation is ongoing and that the neurologist is being questioned to determine the facts surrounding the allegations.
