Mother Claims Woman She Trusted for a Week Disappeared with Infant Inside Hospital Premises

New Delhi: In a disturbing incident that has raised fresh concerns over security at government hospitals, a seven-month-old baby boy was allegedly kidnapped from Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Delhi on Sunday. Police have registered a kidnapping case and launched a search operation to trace the missing infant and apprehend the accused woman.

According to police officials, the complaint was filed by the infant’s mother, Nazreen (23), a resident of Seelampur. She alleged that an unidentified woman, who had gained her trust over the past week, disappeared with her seven-month-old son from the hospital premises.

Woman Allegedly Befriended Mother Before Incident

Police said the accused woman had first met Nazreen in Seelampur around a week ago and had been interacting with her regularly. Over time, she reportedly earned the young mother’s confidence.

On Sunday, the two women travelled together to GTB Hospital. According to the complaint, Nazreen left her infant in the woman’s care while she went inside the hospital to obtain a medical slip. However, when she returned, both the woman and her child were missing.

Kidnapping Case Registered

Following a PCR call regarding the incident, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. A case of kidnapping has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify and locate the accused woman.

“Based on the complaint received, a case has been registered and further investigation is in progress,” a police officer said.

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital and surrounding areas while conducting searches to trace the missing child.

Security Concerns Surface at Hospital

The incident has sparked concerns regarding patient safety and security arrangements within hospital premises, particularly in crowded government healthcare facilities where vulnerable patients and attendants frequently visit.

Similar Incident Reported Earlier

The latest case comes months after another shocking child abduction incident at Dr BC Roy Post Graduate Institute of Paediatric Sciences in Kolkata. In that case, a woman allegedly posing as a nurse kidnapped a six-month-old infant after offering assistance to the child’s mother.

The baby was rescued within hours from Bhangar in South 24 Parganas, nearly 33 kilometres from the hospital, and the accused woman was subsequently arrested by police.

Authorities are now intensifying efforts to ensure the safe recovery of the missing infant from GTB Hospital and bring those responsible to justice.
