A disturbing incident from Post Graduate Institute of Child Health (PGICH) in Noida has sparked serious concerns over workplace safety in medical institutions, after a senior woman doctor accused her junior colleague of physical assault during duty hours.

Altercation Turns Violent in Emergency Ward

The incident reportedly took place around 2 a.m. on Friday in the emergency ward of the Sector 30-based hospital. According to the complaint lodged at the Sector 20 police station, a disagreement between the two doctors escalated into a violent confrontation while they were attending to a patient.

The senior doctor alleged that the junior lost his temper, slapped her multiple times, used abusive language, and even issued death threats. The assault reportedly caused both physical injuries and significant mental trauma.

FIR Filed, Police Begin Investigation

Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation.

Officials confirmed that statements from both parties are being recorded. Authorities are also examining CCTV footage and other evidence to verify the sequence of events. Police stated that appropriate legal action will follow once the investigation is completed.

Hospital Launches Internal Probe

The hospital administration has also taken cognisance of the matter and constituted an independent inquiry panel.

Hospital Director A.K. Singh stated that both doctors were on night duty at the time of the incident. He added that CCTV footage is under review and staff members present during the incident are being questioned.

Doctors Raise Safety Concerns

The incident has triggered widespread concern among the medical fraternity. Many doctors have termed the episode deeply troubling, especially given that it occurred in a high-pressure and sensitive environment like an emergency ward.

Medical professionals have emphasized the need for better conflict resolution mechanisms and stricter safety protocols within hospitals to prevent such incidents in the future.
