Demolition Carried Out Overnight in Srinagar

Srinagar: Security forces have demolished the house of the doctor accused of driving the explosive-laden Hyundai i20 that detonated near Delhi’s Red Fort earlier this week. The operation was conducted during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, officials told PTI.

Blast Toll Rises to 13

The high-intensity car blast on Monday night claimed 13 lives and injured several others. One of the critically injured victims succumbed to burn injuries on Thursday, pushing the death toll to 13.

NIA Links Accused to Turkiye-Based Handler

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is leading the investigation, has uncovered the accused doctor’s alleged links to a Turkiye-based handler codenamed “Ukasa.” Officials believe he headed a “white-collar group” of medical professionals within the terror module and played a key role in motivating others to join the 10/11 blast conspiracy.

Academic Background and Radicalisation Angle

The doctor, originally from Srinagar, had moved to Faridabad nearly 18 months ago and was working as an Assistant Professor at Al Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research. A state topper in NEET-PG, he completed his MBBS and MD from Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar.

According to investigators, despite a strong academic record, he allegedly became radicalised in the past two years and had joined multiple extremist messaging groups on social media.

Identity Confirmed Through DNA Matching

His identity was confirmed after DNA samples collected from the blast site matched with those of his mother. Officials maintain that he was behind the wheel of the explosive-laden Hyundai i20 at the time of the blast.

More Arrests Likely as Probe Widens

The doctor is suspected to have been the leader within the medical-professional-based terror module, prompting security agencies to widen the inquiry. Several other doctors linked to the network have already been detained for questioning.

Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
