Pune: The final report by a committee from Sassoon General Hospital probing the tragic death of a pregnant woman, allegedly denied admission at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, has been submitted to the Maharashtra state government and Pune Police, according to a senior official quoted by PTI.

The woman, Tanisha Bhise, wife of BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe’s personal secretary, was reportedly turned away due to non-payment of a Rs 10 lakh deposit. She later gave birth to twin daughters at another hospital but sadly passed away, prompting public outcry and a series of investigations.

Fourth Inquiry Report Filed in Ongoing Investigation

This report marks the fourth official inquiry into the incident. A six-member expert committee from Sassoon General Hospital and BJ Medical College was formed after Pune Police sought medical expertise. Previous reports have been filed by:

  • A state health department committee
  • The Charity Commissioner’s office
  • Pune Municipal Corporation’s Maternal Death Review Panel

Police Protection for Doctor Named in Complaint

Meanwhile, a consulting gynecologist accused by the victim’s family of demanding the hefty deposit has been placed under police protection after receiving threats, confirmed a senior police official.

Authorities continue to examine the findings of all four reports to determine if there was any medical negligence or violation of ethical protocols in denying care to the young mother.
