A private hospital staff member in Uttar Pradesh alleges two years of abuse, threats, and forced medication; police begin investigation
FIR Filed After Nurse’s Complaint
In a serious allegation from Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh, a nurse working at a private hospital has accused a doctor—who also served as the hospital administrator—of repeatedly sexually assaulting her since 2022.
According to police officials, an FIR was registered on March 20 at the Kotwali police station following a written complaint submitted by the victim.
Allegations of Prolonged Abuse and Threats
As per the complaint, the nurse had been working at a private hospital located in the Chaudhary Sarai area since December 2022 and was residing in a room within the hospital premises.
She alleged that the accused doctor subjected her to repeated sexual assault over a span of nearly two years and threatened her with severe consequences if she revealed the incidents to anyone.
February 2025 Incident and Health Impact
The complainant further stated that on February 10, 2025, she was called to the hospital by the accused, where she was allegedly assaulted again. She also claimed that she was forced to consume contraceptive pills following the incident.
The nurse reported suffering from health complications and significant mental distress after the alleged assault.
Confrontation Leads to Alleged Abuse
According to the FIR, the victim later informed her mother about the incidents. When her mother accompanied her to confront the accused at the hospital, both were allegedly verbally abused and forcibly driven out by the doctor and his father.
Police Investigation Underway
Kotwali SHO Gajendra Singh confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is currently underway. Authorities stated that all allegations will be thoroughly examined, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
Rising Concerns Over Safety in Healthcare Settings
The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety and protection of healthcare workers, especially women, within medical institutions. Cases involving abuse of authority in workplaces continue to highlight the need for stricter safeguards and accountability mechanisms.
