New Delhi: Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital has temporarily closed five operation theatres (OTs) in its new OT complex for renovation and whitewashing, officials confirmed on Friday.

  • The renovations are scheduled to be completed by March 31.
  • The affected OTs will reopen on April 2, only after receiving a negative culture report, ensuring sterility and infection control.
  • Emergency ophthalmology surgeries will continue at ECS OT III during this period.

A culture report evaluates microbial contamination levels in the OT environment, crucial for maintaining sterility and preventing post-surgical infections.

The temporary shutdown aligns with three non-working days—including the weekend and Eid holiday—to minimize disruption to hospital services.

The decision follows a March 20 meeting chaired by Dr. D S Chauhan, focusing on National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) accreditation requirements.
