Accused homoeopath had been practicing allopathy illegally for over a decade
Ratlam : In a disturbing case of alleged medical negligence, a 6-year-old girl died shortly after receiving an injection from a homoeopathic doctor illegally practising allopathy at a clinic in Ratlam. The doctor had no formal qualification to administer allopathic treatments, yet had been doing so for over 10 years.
Fever Turns Fatal: Family Alleges Negligent Treatment
The child had developed a fever on Tuesday and was taken to a nearby clinic run by the accused, who administered an injection without any diagnostic tests or proper examination. Following the injection, the child began vomiting, and her condition quickly deteriorated. She was rushed back to the clinic, but was declared dead around 1 PM. Her body was sent for post-mortem at Ratlam Medical College and later cremated.
Repeat Offender: Second Death Linked to the Same Clinic
Investigations revealed that this was not the first fatality associated with the clinic. In 2019, a 30-year-old man named Ramesh Charel also died during treatment at the same facility, after complaining of pain in his limbs.
Clinic Sealed, Accused Arrested After Fleeing
After the girl’s death, the doctor fled the scene, but was arrested later that night by Raoti police. Authorities, including health department officials, conducted a raid at the clinic, which has since been sealed. It was confirmed that the accused held a homoeopathy degree and was employed as a teacher at a private university, yet had been illegally practicing allopathic medicine for years, including administering IV drips and injections.
Legal Action Underway
Police confirmed that the doctor is currently under interrogation, and further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation and post-mortem report. The case has sparked renewed calls for stricter enforcement of medical licensing regulations to prevent such tragedies.
