Rajkot : Dr. Jay Patel, an anaesthetist residing in Swarnabhoomi Apartment, Nana Mava, Rajkot, was found dead in his home under suspicious circumstances. Initial investigations suggest an anaesthesia overdose as the possible cause of death.
Discovery of the Body
The incident came to light when Patel’s employer contacted his neighbor after the doctor failed to report to work. As his parents were out of town, the neighbor checked on him and found the apartment door unlocked. Inside, Patel was discovered unconscious on his bed, with an injection syringe lying beside him.
Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital via ambulance, Patel was declared dead on arrival.
Investigation Details
During the investigation, police discovered a tissue paper in Patel’s bedroom with a written note instructing to “kindly contact my jiju (brother-in-law).”
Family members disclosed that Patel was married for the second time and was in the middle of a contentious divorce case with his estranged wife, who resides in Mumbai. The police are investigating whether marital issues may have contributed to the incident.
