Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court (HC) has ordered a halt to the finalisation of NEET-PG 2024 admissions under the state quota, citing potential errors in the merit list. The court raised concerns that candidates with lower marks had been given priority over higher-scoring applicants.

A group of 45 MBBS graduates who appeared for NEET-PG 2024 filed a petition, alleging flaws in the admissions process, including procedural or technical errors in the calculation of ranks. The petitioners argued that these discrepancies had resulted in an unfair advantage for certain candidates.

Justice Dinesh Mehta, in his order, observed that “some error has crept in” in the process, possibly due to the use of raw marks rather than normalized marks. The court reviewed evidence, including the Provisional State Merit List, and found merit in the petitioners’ claims.

The petitioners’ advocate, Kailash Jangid, highlighted issues with the merit list that he claimed harmed deserving candidates. The court noted that the Rajasthan State Counselling Board had not adequately addressed these concerns.

The court has given the Counselling Board seven days to investigate and correct the issue, instructing it to prepare a revised list for the court’s consideration. The admissions process remains paused until the issue is resolved, ensuring fairness and transparency for all candidates.

The matter is set for further hearing on December 5, 2024.
