Prayagraj – In a significant boost to public healthcare in the city, super specialty outpatient departments (OPDs) are set to be launched soon at Motilal Nehru Divisional Hospital (Colvin Hospital) and TB Sapru Hospital (Beli Hospital). The new services will be established in collaboration with Cantonment Hospital, aiming to provide accessible and affordable specialist care to the people of Prayagraj.
The upcoming OPDs will offer consultations in cardiology, nephrology, gastroenterology, oncology, and neurology, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances or incur high expenses for such services. Medicines prescribed by specialists will be available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras, known for their substantially lower prices.
Dr. Suman Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Medical Superintendent at Colvin Hospital, confirmed that rooms have already been prepared to host the new specialist clinics. “Our goal is to bring quality treatment and affordable medicines within everyone’s reach. We plan to start operations within a week,” she said.
Dr. MK Akhouri, Medical Superintendent at Beli Hospital, added that OPD services would soon begin for kidney, neuro, and heart conditions, and that the hospital has formally notified the Additional Director of Medical Health.
The initiative builds on the success of the recent Maha Kumbh, during which ICU services were effectively managed through a partnership between Cantonment Hospital and major hospitals in Lucknow. Leftover medical supplies from the Kumbh will also be redistributed to district and divisional hospitals to support the new OPDs.
This development is expected to provide a major relief to patients in Prayagraj and surrounding areas, improving both the availability and affordability of specialist medical care.
