Incident Caught on CCTV, Doctor Detained by Police for Questioning
Palghar : A tragic accident has jolted the residents of Palghar district after a 70-year-old woman was fatally struck by a speeding car allegedly driven by a doctor. The incident took place in the BARC Colony of Boisar, where the elderly woman was leaving a hospital after accompanying her husband for a check-up.
The victim, identified as Chayalata Vishwanath Arekar, was immediately rushed to the hospital’s emergency ward but was declared dead upon arrival.
According to police, the red vehicle, reportedly driven by Dr. AK Das—a doctor employed at the same hospital—veered out of control and hit the victim at high speed. The entire episode was captured on CCTV, and the footage has since gone viral, showing the car barreling down the road and striking the woman.
Following the incident, local police swiftly arrived at the scene and detained Dr. Das. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities are now probing whether the mishap was due to a mechanical failure or human error.
Tarapur Police along with DYSP Vikas Naik have initiated a comprehensive investigation, collecting evidence and eyewitness accounts to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
