Orthopaedic doctor to pay Rs.50 Lakhs for violating undertaking

Ludhiana: The civil surgeon Jasbir Singh Aulakh has directed an orthopaedic doctor to pay Rs.50 Lakhs for violating the undertaking signed by him. In Punjab an MBBS pursuing MD or MS under government quota is required to submit an undertaking of serving the health department for 10 years or pay Rs.50 lakhs bond amount. In 2014, the doctor for Community health centre went to pursue MS in orthopaedics under the government quota and signed the undertaking as mandated for the government quota seats. On July 2017 after completing his MS the orthopaedic doctor presented himself on duty at CHC, Dehlon. Unfortunately the doctor did not attend his job from March 2018. The orthopaedic doctor was then warned about the bond clause and asked to re-join the duty but he did not paid heed. Subsequently since he was willing to join the duty he was asked to pay his bond amount of Rs.50 Lakhs of which he paid Rs.30 Lakhs and requested some time to pay the balance amount.
