New Hospital Built at Rs 280 Crore to Boost Healthcare in Koraput
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated a new 650-bedded hospital facility at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) in Koraput district, constructed at a cost of Rs 280 crore. The move aims to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Government Focus on Healthcare and Education Growth
CM Majhi emphasized that his government has prioritized qualitative development in education and healthcare since coming to power. He highlighted the filling of long-pending vacancies in healthcare and announced plans to establish four new medical colleges in Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, and Nabarangpur districts.
Infrastructure and Staffing Assurances
The Chief Minister assured that all vacant healthcare professional posts at SLNMCH would be filled soon. He also announced a six-lane road project connecting the Jaypore-Berhampur-Bhubaneswar Economic Corridor to improve accessibility.
Regional Benefits and Advanced Medical Facilities
Majhi stated that residents of Koraput, nearby districts like Malkangiri and Rayagada, and neighbouring states Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh would benefit from the advanced treatment facilities at the new hospital. The facility includes a special oxygen plant to ensure critical patients do not face oxygen shortages.
Plans for Advanced Cancer Hospital and Government Achievements
The state has sanctioned Rs 41.15 crore for an advanced cancer hospital on a 2-acre site adjacent to SLNMCH. The CM also highlighted achievements under schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable development and prosperity in Odisha.Vision for Odisha’s Development by 2047
