Noida: In a tragic incident that has raised serious questions over patient care, a 47-year-old man undergoing treatment for oral cancer allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the fifth floor of ESIC Hospital on Wednesday.
Family Alleges Negligence by Hospital Staff
The deceased, a resident of Bhangel in Noida, had been receiving treatment at the hospital since March 9. His family has accused hospital authorities of negligence, claiming that no doctor or staff member was present to monitor him at the time of the incident.
According to family members, the patient managed to access a window near the staircase area without any supervision, raising concerns about safety protocols within the hospital premises.
Incident Occurred During Brief Absence of Caregiver
The incident reportedly took place when the patient’s wife, who was acting as his primary caregiver, briefly stepped away to use the bathroom. Upon returning, she found him missing from the ward. Moments later, it was discovered that he had jumped from the building.

As per media reports, including India Today, witnesses and hospital records suggest that the man died on the spot due to the fall. Local police were immediately informed and reached the scene shortly after.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and authorities have initiated legal proceedings to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Mental Stress Suspected as Key Factor
