Will open doors for global medical career to Indian Medical Fraternity

New Delhi : The Union health ministry has released a press note announcing that the National Medical Council (MNC) of India has been awarded the coveted World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) recognition status for a tenure of 10 years. The recognition of NMC will pave the way for the Indian medical graduates to pursue post graduate training in other countries. Also it will open doors for Indian medical fraternity to practice in other countries that require WFME recognition and which include United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand among others.

Presently 706 registered medical colleges in India will become WFME accredited and the new medical colleges likely to be setup in the next 10 years will get accreditation automatically. The NMC will have opportunity to enhance the quality and standard of its medical education by aligning them with the global best practices and standards. The accreditation is likely to attract overseas students in Indian medical colleges.
